AUTUMN

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns. ~George Eliot

We took a fall fling into the canyon today. A much needed trip away from the house and back into nature. The leaves were beautiful and vibrant in hues of red, yellow, and green. The air was crisp and fresh and smelled of pine-trees and campfires. All was right with the world for a little while. Especially with melissa, lance and evelyn there.

EVELYN AND MELISSA ARRIVE IN UTAH

The exciting day has finally arrived. Evelyn and Melissa flew in at 9:35 and got to our house at around 10:00. They get to visit because Lance has finals. He will join them over LDS conference. You can't tell the kids are excited can you! There has been a flurry of excitement and jostling about who would hold evelyn first. Turns out she likes to walk and not be held all that much anyway. So much wasted contention.
They get to stay for 2 weeks. Should be lots of fun. It seems like we will also be spending a lot of time cooking with peaches. I just made a peach cobbler which was quite ambitious for me. We are going to try jam...we will see how it goes....so so so many peaches. Thanks to esther for her delicious peach cobbler recipe.

QUOTES OF THE DAY

"Every leaf speaks bliss to me; fluttering from the autumn tree" Emily Bronte.

"Our deepest fear isnot that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant,...talented, fabulous? Actually who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you...We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us...As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.(Williamson 90-91).

I remember sister boyle sharing this quote in relief society and was recently reminded of it. I love it and strive to be able to emulate it. In young women's yesterday the lesson was on every soul's eternal and infinate worth. I hope that I can remember that in all my dealing with others.

Matthew Wins First Place!!!!!!

Matthew won first place in Mutton Busting!!!! In some incredible twist of fate, Matthew stayed on a sheep longer than anyone else in Grandpa Taylor's ward rodeo. We are so so so Proud. We do not think we will be able to sleep tonight because we are coming up with all the things Matthew could do with this amazing skill. Congrats Matthew. Also we posted aubrey's song from the 60th class reunion at the bottom of our blog. I wish we could figure out how to add video to our blog. Toodles.

American Fork Highschool 60th reunion

Aubrey got the special opportunity to sing at her great uncle's 60th class reunion (for american fork HS). They held it at the Alpine arts center so she got to pose up close and personal with the cougar statue. If anyone doesn't know Aubrey loves to sing so she found it a priviledge to do. Overall, the class looked surprisingly young and spry. I hope I am so lucky to look as good as they did. Lane is at the football game right now, but he may post one of the songs on Youtube for anyone who wants to check it out. We also have about an hour of "purse footage" as I left the video camera on in my purse. It's fascinating. Let me know if you would like a copy of the purse footage. We probably won't get it posted until tonight or tomorrow (the siinging part). I wanted to get a picture of Matthew and Emily too. Matthew won second place in a 5K this morning...he has really come to love running. Emily also played soccor this morning and had fun. Neither would let me take a picture. Emily literally put her head inside her soccor uniform. It took me back to that good old family footage where jennifer covered her head with the beany hat...Oh the good old days.

Random Ramblings

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...the beginning of BYU football season. Just kidding...sort of. We will leave it at that.

For all the california relatives who mentioned wanting to see aubrey's recital, Lane posted one of her songs on youtube and is at the bottom of our blog page.

Thanks to everyone for a great birthday. Mom for her beautiful painting that I love and the halloween items which she knows that I love freakishly cute halloween items. Dad for talking to me on my birthday. Melissa who called and let me talk to both her and evelyn. Siblings who called . Brent and Cintia who are letting us leach on them for Thanksgiving. Thanks to the kids who made the cutest signs ever all around the house. When I opened the oven I knew I was"really Hot" and when I saw the broom that I "clean even better than cinderella." Also thanks to aub, em and bryn for singing me that great birthday song. Thanks to Lane's mom for taking me to lunch and dear lizzie's and the cute good luck charm. To neighbors and friends for all their kindnesses. To lane for taking Friday off so we could spend the day together and still go to football on saturday (how dare my birthday come on the first football day of the season). It was great.
Fall to me is actually the best of times because I love the fall crisp air, the smell of leaves, and the feeling of new beginnings with the kids going back to school.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world." Anne Frank
