So after promising myself Matthew and me would finish the requirements for his bear last summer, 2008, "when we would have lots of time"...he finally got his Bear one month before his birthday when he must go onto Webelos. We spent the last few weekends completing the requirements, and it was actually a lot of fun, planting trees, doing a pedigree chart, playing family games, etc. I had, however, forgotten that the parents got to be escorted to the front to be with their son to get his award...and I had literally been cleaning all day...thought I would just blend into the crowd and take pictures. Slightly embarassing...but I do love that boy. We so much appreciate all the leaders in our ward who work so hard and do so much for the boys and for the scouting program. It is not an easy gig in my opinion. We are also glad my parents are up from California for awhile and that the kids are finally beating their illness's. So much sickness the past week. We still have coughing attacks and Brynna's "sore nose" to get through, but I can tell we are hopefully in the end stage. Also I am loving conference and looking forward to more inspiring messages and a full dose of the spirit tomorrow. It always offers me a better and more peaceful and appropriate perspective...like water for the dehydrated or food for the starving.

Congratulations Matthew! Be sure to tell your Mom thank you!
Good job Matthew! Sorry we missed half the meeting. Soccer game interfered. Also trying to keep sick kids away. Conference weekend is always one of my favorites and it was once again.
We're excited for you Matthew! Kind of like the new Mom award, but I wasn't looking my best either.
Way to go Matthew!! We'll miss you in Bears!
Patty I want to see you wearing your new necklace! ;)
