So instead of the valentines dance where we wanted to be....we were at the emergency room with Matthew. He had gone to his cousin's birthday party in Draper where he was going to spend the night. At about 6:00 when he was wrestling with his cousin, somehow Matthew's arm went "the wrong way" and he heard a loud "pop". Lane went back to get him...I have seriously never seen Matthew in as much pain as he was in. He kept almost throwing up because of the pain and even got the Hives. His arm was swollen up at least double size and looked deformed. We both took him to the hospital. They took an x-ray and discovered his elbow was dislocated. It was dislocated in a "rare" way however and they couldn't get it back into place initially. They had to completely sedate him via IV, bring in an orthopedist (warn us if it didn't work we were headed to PCMC for surgery) and put it back into place using a continuous x-ray machine. I guess there is an artery by the elbow that makes elbow dislocation somewhat dangerous. Luckily it worked and Matthew is feeling 10000% better than he did last night. He gets to have a cool cast which he is excited to show everyone. We took pictures of the freaky angle his arm was last night and him with an awesome IV but I can't download them off the phone. The doctors couldn't believe how good he was. He was much much braver than I was and I hadn't dislocated anything. I could never have been a doctor...I couldn't stand seeing the pain. I kept almost throwing up too. Was it Friday the 13th??? We are grateful for a brother-Radiologist and Dr.Greenwood in the emergency room, and we are grateful all is well in the light of this snowy Valentines day!

I'm sorry you had to miss the dinner/dance and for something so tramatic!! I'm glad Matthew is feeling better and I hope he recovers quickly!
We missed you guys at the dance. We are glad that Matthew is recovering. Way to look on the bright side about showing off the cool cast.
OUCH! We are so sorry for Matthew and for his poor, brave mother. I hope all is well now. How long does the sling stay on?
Disgusting! Boys....wrestling. I am afraid of what the future holds.
